How do I set the URL (web address) for my event?

  • A URL is set for an Event Group
  • All events in the group will use the same URL

The domain strategy in Evessio is determined by the event lifecycle and branding choices:

Shortnames (/folder)
  • Evessio reserves the first 'folder' after the domain to uniquely identify events on a domain. This is called the ’shortname' and is a required element in Evessio in order to be able to serve multiple events on a single domain. e.g.www.event.com/myevent
  • All Evessio events use a shortname and all pages end up with the following URL shema:
    • event.com/SHORTNAME/LANGUAGE/page/PAGE-SLUG e.g.
    • event.com/myevent/en/page/home
  • This shortname is editable within the event settings
  • The shortname can be used to separate e.g. annual events if that is preferred e.g.
  • Another method which will preserve URL’s between events in to rotate the shortname between the live and archived events e.g.
    • www.event.com/live <- next year will be switched to /2020 and archived
    • www.event.com/2019 <- archived
Sub-domains
  • Evessio also supports event ’separation’ via sub-domain e.g.myevent.event.com
  • All of the above shortname functionality still applies e.g.myevent.event.com/2020
  • Events on sub-domains still require unique shortnames

The URL can be set from either the events list page or via EVENT > Settings > [Event ... Event group]

The URL can be:

  • Evessio - using an Evessio domain means you can immediately publish the site and do transaction testing and also provides automatic SSL security
    • e.g. myevent.evessiocloud.com
  • Custom - you can add any custom domain here but you must own the domain and have access to configure the DNS
    • e.g. myevent.com

***Note: if you plan to use a custom domain, you should set this up before doing any event marketing. Using Evessio domains is useful for testing prior to the custom url being available and configured but should not replace it in a 'live' context.
