Event Website Domains
A domain name is a unique address used to access your websites, such as evessio.com.
Your event website can be configured with a free Evessio website domain, or you can choose to use a custom website domain that you have purchased to use to access your Event Website.
Website domains are added to Event Groups, and the domain is managed via the Event Group settings.

All events within this event group will use the same domain, and uniquely identified by their shortname.

Accessing the Domain Editor
To access your event group's domain editor, open your event group settings.
You can do this via your Event List, by clicking on the pencil icon beside your event group name.

You can also access this inside your event by navigating to Event > Settings, and clicking on the blue pencil beside the event group name.

Here, you will configure either your Evessio provided Event Domain, or your Custom Domain.
You can also configure whether to Allow search engine indexing. Setting this option to No tells search engines not to index your site , i.e. appear in search results.

Note 🗒️
Please note that while major search engines honour this flag, some engines may still list the site.
Evessio provided Event Website Domains
If you have not purchased your own custom website domain for your event, you can choose to use the Evessio provided website domain. You can choose the name of the domain, which will be followed by .evessiocloud.com. Using an evessiocloud domain provides automatic SSL security.
Open your domain editor, and tick the Evessio option under the area URL.
Then, choose a name to use for your domain.
Warning ⚠
If the name you have chosen is not available, you will see the error Subdomain already exists in this domain.

When you are done, click Save.
Adding a custom website domain
You can add any custom domain to your event group that you own and have access to configure the DNS settings.
To add a custom website domain, open your domain editor, and click on the +Add domain button.
A New Domain box will open where you can input the required information.

In the Domain section, add the domain name that you own, such as evessio.com. Do not add www or http:// here.
Next, you can choose to Perform domain root redirection. The default option here will be set to No, so be sure to edit this if desired.

Then, choose the Event behaviour when a user tries to access your domain:
Show published event or landing page
This option ensures that user is always redirected to your published event. If you have more that one published event in your event group, this option will redirect users to a landing page, displaying each of the published events in a table format.
Tip 💡
Your event landing page can be customised just like any page on your website. To learn more, contact Evessio Training.
Show specific event
When selecting this option, you will be presented with a list of all published events within your event group. Choose which event you would like users to be redirected to when trying to access your domain.
Finally, select the Page behaviour. You can choose to show the event homepage, or to choose a specific page from your event.
Event Website Shortname
Events can be uniquely identified from others in their event group by their shortname.
All Evessio events use a shortname and all pages end up with the following URL setup:
1️⃣domain/ 2️⃣shortname/ 3️⃣language/ 4️⃣page (or private if in the logged in area) / 5️⃣page-name, such as

To edit your event shortname, go to Event > Settings. The shortname you choose must be unique within its event group.

The shortname can be used to indicate a new cycle of your annual event if that is preferred e.g. www.event.com/2026, and then www.event.com/2027.
Another method is to recycle the shortname year on year, so that individual page addresses do not change annually, and helps preserve your SEO performance.
To use this method, first choose a shortname that can be used each year to indicate your live event, such as live, event, awards, etc.
Then, when you archive your event and publish the newest version, first change the shortname of the older event, making it available to be used in the new event.
Sub-domains
Evessio also supports event ’separation’ via sub-domain, e.g. myevent.event.com
All shortname functionality still applies e.g.myevent.event.com/2026
Events on sub-domains still require unique shortnames.
